The 209 Asian & Pacific Islander Homies Circle provides leadership development, life skills training, and re-entry support for formerly incarcerated and justice-impacted Asian American & Pacific Islander men in partnership with the City of Stocktonβs Office of Violence Prevention (OVP)
Throughout the 8-week program, participants engage in a series of workshops that cover a wide range of topics crucial for personal growth and successful reintegration:
πKnowledge of Self – Exploring Our Histories: Participants reflect on their personal histories and cultural identities, fostering a deeper understanding of self-awareness and identity.
π School to Prison to Deportation Pipeline: This workshop addresses systemic issues affecting Asian American & Pacific Islander communities, examining how educational and criminal justice systems intersect.
π Cycle of Violence, Trauma, & Healing: Participants explore the impact of trauma and violence, and strategies for healing and breaking cycles of negative behavior.
π Leadership & Legacy: This workshop empowers participants to embrace leadership roles within their communities and families, emphasizing the importance of creating and leaving behind a positive legacy.
π Financial Literacy: Essential financial management skills are taught to equip participants with the knowledge needed to achieve financial stability.
π Exploring Higher Education and Careers: Participants are guided in exploring educational and career pathways, encouraging them to pursue goals beyond their current circumstances.
π Physical, Mental, Emotional, & Spiritual Health: This workshop focuses on holistic health and wellness, promoting strategies for maintaining well-being.
